The Eureka Police Department conducted a DUI / Driver’s License Checkpoint on 6-29-12. The checkpoint took place on 4th street at Commercial streets between 9pm and 1:30 am. The checkpoint was stopped early due to radio problems beyond our control.

615 total vehicles screened
3 people were arrested for DUI
6 people were cited for driving while unlicensed
2 people were cited for driving while suspended
1 person was cited for allowing a suspended driver drive the vehicle
1 felony drug arrest was made
3 vehicles were impounded
7 people were given field sobriety tests and determined not to be driving under the influence.

Funding for this checkpoint came from a grant provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
