On June 27, 2012, the Eureka Police Department located a male subject near the foot of Truesdale Street in Eureka. That subject was later found to have injuries consistent with an assault, and he was subsequently identified as Eureka resident Victor Alan Morris, age 48. Morris was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital for emergency treatment because of his injuries.

Because Morris’ injuries were believed to be the result of an assault, the Criminal Investigative Section of the Eureka Police Department was notified and began investigating. On July 9, 2012, Morris succumbed to his injuries and died at a local after care facility. The Eureka Police Department is now investigating Morris’ death as a possible homicide.

The Eureka Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Services is asking for the public’s help in reconstructing the days leading up to Morris’ assault.
