Contact :Sgt Steve Watson    707-441-4060

On 07/25/2012 at approximately 2:00 PM, the Eureka Police Department's Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) served a Search Warrant at an apartment on the 800 block of “H” St. in Eureka. The occupant of the apartment was Dixie Lee HOLDER, age 48 of Eureka. The Search Warrant was for controlled substances, specifically heroin, and related items.

When the Search Warrant was served two teenage subjects were encountered in the living room area - an 18 y.o. male and a 19 y.o. female. The male subject was on juvenile probation. The female subject, McKenzie M. TIDD, had two Felony Arrest warrants (drugs) and several misdemeanor arrest warrants for which she was arrested.

The POP officers were delayed getting into the master bedroom where Suspect HOLDER was located. POP Officers suspected that HOLDER may have hidden controlled substances in a body cavity.

A detailed search of the apartment was conducted. Officers seized a digital scales, packaging, drug use paraphernalia, and a cell phone.

Suspect TIDD and Suspect HOLDER were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility (HCCF). TIDD for her outstanding arrest warrants and HOLDER for possession of Drug Use paraphernalia.

During the booking process Suspect HOLDER removed an item from a “body cavity” and attempted to swallow it. An alert, quick thinking HCSO Correctional Officer was able to prevent Suspects HOLDER from swallowing the item. The “item” was identified has Black Tar heroin, just over 15 grams (about a half ounce) wrapped in cellophane. The quick action of the HCSO Correctional Officer saved the evidence and quite possibly prevented Suspect HOLDER from overdosing on the heroin while she was in the jail facility.

Suspect HOLDER was also arrested and booked for Possession for sale of a narcotic substance (HEROIN) and smuggling drugs into a correctional facility.

Anyone wishing to leave a tip concerning drug crimes occurring within the City of Eureka is encouraged to call the POP Unit at (707) 441-4373.
