The City of Eureka has released the Notice of Preparation (NOP) for the Enviromental Impact Report (EIR) for the Waterfront Drive Extension Project. This is one of the first steps the City must take when beginning preparation of the EIR. The NOP describes the project and the probable environmental effects that will be addressed in the EIR. The NOP was sent to state responsible and trustee agences, federal agencies involved in approving or funding the project, and local agencies. The purpose of the NOP is to gather specific detail as to the scope and content of the environmental information related to each agency's area of statutory responsibility which must be incuded in the draft EIR.
In order to provide the public the opportunity to understand the proposed project and provide input in the early stages of the EIR preparation, a public scoping session/workshop will be held in late October or early November. This public workshop will be advertised.
A hard copy of the NOP is available for review at the Community Development Department in City Hall, and copies may be purchased for a copy charge of $11.70. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Shikany by telephone at (707) 268-5265, or by email at mail to:firstname.lastname@example.org
