James Darin Joaillier is a jewelry retail and repair store owned and operated by Fortuna native James Darin Goodale. Darin has been interested in jewelry, especially diamonds, from an early age, and began to work with jewelry at the age of fourteen. He has been involved in the industry ever since. After working at another jewelry store in Fortuna, Darin decided to open his own establishment, James Darin Joaillier, in 1996 in Fortuna. He was inspired to choose the name joaillier (the French word for jeweler) after a visit to Paris.
After 17 years in Fortuna, he moved his store in 2012 to downtown Eureka at 520 Fifth Street on the highway corridor in order to be more centrally located for both his loyal customers and visitors traveling through town. The store at 520 5th Street was previously home to Hollander’s, another jewelry company that was open for decades, and was well-known in Eureka and the surrounding area for its excellence in craftsmanship and customer service. James Darin Joaillier now provides the same attention and quality of service with an updated space and services.
James Darin Joaillier is a jewelry retail store, offering a variety of diamonds and other precious stones. The showroom features a variety of beautiful necklaces, earring, brooches, and more for sale, and Darin also does custom work by request as well out of the store. He has a loyal customer base form Crescent City to Mendocino, who know to come to Eureka to visit Darin with a special project or repair. Darin employs one jeweler and also works with a variety of subcontractors. The top selling items at Joaillier are diamond earrings and necklaces, although a variety of precious stones are sold at the store. Estate pieces and unique items can also be brought in to the store for custom changes or repair, and Darin is available for personal consultations by appointment.
