A Prayer For Those In Fire Service
O God, you have given to me the task of rescuing those who are in trouble and in danger. Help me to find pride and pleasure in the thought that there is no greater task than the task of saving others.

Fire Response Fee(s) Billing Services RFQ Released

The City of Eureka is inviting firms to submit their qualifications to provide billing services related to Fire Response Fees. Because economic constraints continue to challenge the City of Eureka’s ability to maintain service levels the Eureka City Council, as part of the FY 09-10 budget process, directed its fire department to research alternative methods of covering the ever increasing costs associated with providing service to the community via Fire Department Response Fees.

Thus the City of Eureka, a California Charter City, is seeking Requests for Qualifications (RFQ) by billing service providers relative to the implementation of a Fire Response Billing Program.

“Share the Magic of Christmas” and “Santa for Seniors”

On December 19, 2009, Eureka Firefighters concluded their 60th annual toy drive.  The toys are distributed by the Salvation Army to children in our community that may not otherwise receive a new toy for Christmas.  Firefighters also collected $900 in cash donations for the 2nd annual “Santa for Seniors”.  Staff of St. Joseph Home Health Care identifies a number of local seniors in need of specific items and purchases the gifts and delivers them at Christmas.

The Eureka Firefighters want to thank the community for their generous donation of toys and money during this holiday season.
