The Operations Division, managed by Assistant Fire Chief Bill Gillespie, is assisted by four Battalion Chief positions.
Administrative: The Administrative section is managed by Battalion Chief Chris Emmons. Battalion Chief Emmons is responsible for the technical and safety related issues including: Radios, Computers/Software and Safety. In addition, this position assists the Fire Chief with budgeting, special projects, and strategic planning as required. Logistics: The Logistics section is managed by Battalion Chief Sean Robertson. Battalion Chief Robertson is responsible for the Logistic support needed to maintain operations. Sub-components of the Logistics section include: Air Supply, Apparatus, Confined Space, Facilities, Hose, Power Equipment, Protective Clothing and Breathing Apparatus. Planning: The Planning section is managed by Battalion Chief Kent Hulbert. Battalion Chief Hulbert is responsible for assisting the fire department, and the city of Eureka as a whole, in planning and emergency preparedness, including the development and implementation of the City Emergency Plan. Training: The Training section is managed by Battalion Chief Chris Jelinek. As the Department’s Training Officer, Battalion Chief Jelinek is responsible for the development and implementation of the department’s training program. In addition, the Training Officer is assisted by other members within the department who manage the Hazardous Materials Response Team, Emergency Medical Program, Volunteer Program and Wildland Fires Program.
