5th Annual

In an effort to promote community enhancement and encourage awareness of environmental issues, the City of Eureka will be sponsoring the City’s 5th Annual Mayday Community Clean Up Event. On Saturday, May 7th at 1pm, volunteers will be picking up litter at Halvorson Park, Old Town, PALCO Marsh and Elk River Wildlife Sanctuary. Volunteers will be provided trash bags and pickers, as well as refreshments. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own re-usable gloves in an effort to reduce waste. If not, gloves will be provided. All participants will receive a City of Eureka Mayday Community Clean Up sports bottle and t-shirt by pre-registering before April 29th. You can register by clicking on the link below or by calling 441-4184. Please fill out the location at which you (or your group) will be volunteering, and also make sure to check your t-shirt size(s). Let’s Team Up to Clean Up.

This year we’ve added new components to the event:

Commencement of Eureka Chamber of Commerce’s
Adopt-A-Block
The Eureka Chamber of Commerce has developed a new Adopt-A-Block program. This year’s event will be a kick-off to the new program. Below is a list of blocks that will have a team leader coordinating cleanup efforts for that area. If you’re interested in signing up for an area, contact the team leader listed next to your area of interest. If you’d like to volunteer for an area that does not have a team leader yet, contact Chuck Petrusha, (707) 443-6366 or chuck@advancedsecurity.us.  This will be the initial start-up to the program. The intent is to continue efforts in these areas throughout the year which will promote community pride, enhance water quality and economic vitality in our commercial areas and increase property values in our residential areas. We only ask that there are at least 10 volunteers and that arrangements are made with the team leader prior to April 29th. Eureka’s Stormwater Division will provide pickers, bags and disposal. Each volunteer will receive a t-shirt and sports bottle and is invited to attend the volunteer appreciation event. The following is a list of the blocks and team leader contacts:
