On November 28, 2017, the Development Services Department held a public workshop in the Wharfinger Building to inform the public of the ongoing Zoning Code Update and to solicit community feedback. The event was well attended, with over 200 people making it out on a rainy Tuesday night. The workshop began with an educational presentation by Development Services Director, Rob Holmlund, about the principles of urban planning and the unique opportunities and challenges present in Eureka. The remainder of the event was open house-style where people moved from station to station to offer their thoughts verbally or in writing. The stations corresponded to topics (e.g. parking or building heights) and to neighborhoods of the city (e.g. Downtown or Henderson Center). Vast quantities of data were collected and have since been reviewed and synthesized.
