Due to Covid-19, the annual City of Eureka Fourth of July festivities that we look forward to each year will not be happening in 2020. These cancelled festivities include the Old Town Festival and fireworks over Humboldt Bay.
Halvorsen Park will be closed for gatherings and Waterfront Drive between L and R Streets will be closed to through traffic. The Eureka Waterfront Trail as well as the Samoa Bridge Boat Launch will be open. We would also like to remind residents that the shelter in place and mask orders are still in effect and large gatherings are not permitted.
Per Eureka Municipal Code 92.082, no person shall discharge, ignite, or set off any fireworks on Woodley Island or in the Old Town area (Bay to 4th Street and Commercial to M Street).
Due to the hot, dry conditions and current fire risk, Humboldt Bay Fire suggests the following alternatives to fireworks:
• Light up the night with glow sticks
• Have an outdoor movie night
• Make a statement with noise makers
• Have fun with red, white, and blue silly string
If you do choose to celebrate with fireworks this year, make sure they are "Safe & Sane," legal fireworks from a permitted booth. Click here to view our interactive map with all the booths that have been inspected and licensed in our jurisdiction: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit…
The City of Eureka hopes you and your family have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July. We hope to back to our normal festivities in 2021.
