Collision reports are available online for involved parties or those with a verified interest in the vehicles (registered owners, insurance companies, legal representation, etc.) as outlined in California Vehicle Code 20012.
There are times when a police report may not be released. Your request
for a particular report may not be fulfilled if the case is still under
investigation or for certain legal reasons. Also, there are certain
restrictions on who may obtain a police report. Sometimes the reports
contain confidential information that cannot be released to certain
individuals.
To help us expedite your request we ask that you submit the following information:
We will call you within 10 business days to pick up your report or
direct you to send a check or money order, with a self addressed stamped
envelope, if you would rather have it mailed.
Report requests may take 7 to 10 business days to process.
When requesting a report by mail:
In order for us to help you as quickly as possible, we require you to
enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your requested
information (see list above) and a check or money order made
payable to City of Eureka in one of the amounts show below.
The fee for a traffic collision report is $10.00 for the first ten pages and $1.00 for each additional page.
The fee for a crime report is $10.00 for the first ten pages and $1.00 for each additional page. Exception: If you are a victim of a crime there is no fee.
$24.00 per hour plus $.10 per page plus postage, if mailed.
