Have you heard about the North Coast Otters Public Art Initiative? It is a Humboldt State University project commissioning one hundred piece of unique otter art to be displayed throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, and neighboring counties during summer of 2020. Participating artists will decorate three-foot-tall otter sculptures to be displayed at shops, galleries, and schools. Then, at the end of the summer, the program will auction the otters to provide funding for otter studies and student internships with community-based watershed projects.
The City of Eureka is hosting four artful otters, one at the Eureka Visitors Center, and then holding a competition for local businesses to host the remaining three.
How does your business compete for one of the three otters? Download the city's Otter Contest Brochure below and submit your application by November 1st. A sub-committee of the City of Eureka's Art & Culture Commission will select the three winners to be annouced at their November 19th meeting at 12:30 PM in Council Chambers.
