Eureka Police Department Accepting Applications for Citizen's Police Academy

Eureka Police Department has developed a Citizen's Police Academy. This academy has been created to forge a stronger partnership between citizens and the Police Department by educating the community in law enforcement issues and Police Department policies and procedures. The Academy is also a means for participants and police personnel to share information and ideas about the police profession.

The academy will include a variety of topics, demonstrations, tours and hands-on experience. This will be positive experience for both the student and the Department. The course will be facilitated by members of the Police Department with expertise in the topic area.

The Eureka Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizen's Police Academy.  The Academy is scheduled to begin Tuesday, February 17, 2009 and will run for seven weeks on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.   

Applications for the Citizen’s Police Academy can be obtained at the Business Office of the Eureka Police Department, 604 C Street, Eureka, CA 95501 Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, online 
HERE or by mail by calling 707-441-4266.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older, have no felony convictions, have no misdemeanor convictions in the last three years and pass a background check conducted by the Eureka Police Department.

Applications will be accepted through January 30, 2009.
